Why Military City?

The greater San Antonio Area has one of the largest concentrations of military bases in the United States to include two of the most important Air Force Training Bases. The bases together are known as Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA). Military presence in San Antonio dates back to the early 1700, through the famous battle of the Alamo to the present configuration of Joint Base San Antonio which includes the major military bases of Randolph Air Force Base, Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base and Camp Bullis.
